Today, Carol interviews Katie Chlan, Executive Director of Home Again. Katie talks about the state of homelessness in Richmond, gains being made to reduce homelessness and the progress of the rapid rehousing movement.
HomeAgain’s mission is to assist homeless families and individuals in metro Richmond by providing emergency and transitional shelter as well as programs designed to build skills leading to increased self-sufficiency and to identify resources needed to obtain and maintain permanent housing.
In 2014, HomeAgain served 444 individuals (313adults and 131 children). Of the adults, 27% were veterans. 71% of those who left a HomeAgain program went immediately to safe, affordable permanent housing
